L.L. Bean is an internationally recognized brand in outdoor clothing and equipment. From its start in 1912 in Freeport, Maine, the company has grown substantially, along with its large and diverse real estate portfolio. L.L. Bean operates out of dozens of retail and outlet stores, office buildings, and manufacturing and distribution centers across the U.S.

Tom Leslie, the HVAC supervisor who oversees all of these sites, faces a challenging job. He is tasked not only with maintaining energy-efficient HVAC operations across multiple building types, but also reliably ensuring a comfortable indoor environment for a variety of occupants — from customers and retail staff to office workers and manufacturing personnel.

From their initial system implementation at the data center, FMC went on to support L.L. Bean's expanding facility footprint. FMC and Tom Leslie have worked closely for over 15 years to expand, update, and maintain the Trend BEMS infrastructure across the growing portfolio.
