Careers at FMC

Build a career in building controls.

We're a Chelmsford-based controls contractor with roughly forty people, thirty years of history, and a service area that runs from Portland to New Haven. If you take pride in hands-on work on real commercial buildings, we'd like to hear from you.

Open positions.

Senior Energy Systems Engineer

Chelmsford, MA · On-site + field

Own the design and commissioning of energy management systems for commercial, municipal, and institutional buildings. You'll scope new projects alongside sales, write sequences of operation for mechanical plants no two of which are the same, and stay with the building through commissioning. Niagara, ALC, or Reliable Controls experience preferred — we'll train you on the rest.

Solutions Architect

Chelmsford, MA · On-site + field

Translate a mechanical plant and a customer's goals into a controls scope that actually ships. You'll be the person walking the building, drawing the system diagram, sizing the panel, and pricing the work. Strong candidates have field experience plus the instinct to push back when a spec is wrong.

Building Systems Technician

Chelmsford, MA · Field

Install, wire, commission, and service BMS controls across the portfolio — new construction, retrofits, and service calls. Most days are out of the truck; some are in the shop pre-wiring panels. We pair newer techs with senior team members on every job, and we pay for the licenses, certifications, and training that keep you moving up.

Business Development Manager

Chelmsford, MA · Hybrid

Find the next fifty buildings. This is a consultative role — you'll be talking to facility managers, mechanical engineers, and property owners who don't want to be sold to. Technical fluency matters more than a polished pitch; if you can tell the difference between a VAV and a fan-coil, we can teach you the rest.

What it's like here

Working at FMC.

  • You'll see your work running.

Every project ends with a building that runs better than it did before. You can pull up the dashboard six months later and see whether the sequence you wrote is still holding.

  • A small company doing serious work.

About forty people, not four hundred. You'll know your coworkers by name and know which technician to call about an unusual fan-coil problem. The projects are real commercial and institutional buildings across New England.

  • Leadership that knows the trade.

Everyone in a leadership role here came up through the trade or through engineering. When you have a question or need to escalate a problem, you're talking to someone who has done the work themselves.

  • We pay for the certifications.

Niagara 4, Tridium certification, OSHA 30, manufacturer training schools — if it makes you better at the job, we pay for it and send you. Well-trained people do better work, and they tend to stay.
